Thanks in advance for any help. I've been trying to install ffxi for a while and manage to download the 4 files from the playonline site. When I go to click on setup.exe it goes through the accepting terms box fine but after I click next it says 7zip there is no such archive. Is the game impossible to download? You will have to rename the 001 dat from .file back to .001 once you recombine it in order to run the FFXISETUP.exe successfully. Make sure all 4 files are in the same folder and you should be good to go.
